Renovation

2020

This Design Major Project is called Renovation, which looks into how a renovation works within an historic context. There are many insights in this project from leadership qualities to construction processes. It also includes the various site visits where I was able to explore the contrast between historic and contemporary features within a historic renovation, from Oxford Castle to a Jacobean Hall. This project has enabled myself to experience the construction industry first-hand in an area that is of high interest to me, and has encouraged me to explore many opportunities which will enable my successful future career.

My journey over the past 3 years at Birmingham City University has been extraordinary. I started my degree studying Interior Architecture and Design and realised I wanted to challenge myself further and had to opportunity to study Design Management which was something a little bit different.
I am so glad I made this transition and I haven’t looked back ever since. Design Management has also helped me to realise I would like to have a career within the property/construction industry. I am so passionate about this industry and I cannot wait for the opportunities I get given in the future.
