The AgriCULTURAL Embassy

2020

My Thesis project aims to bring people together using culturally themed gardens for a new embassy hub, using ‘weaving’ as a concept to inform design. Each garden design is used to represent traditions, festivals, celebrations and cultures of countries, and are spaces of productive vegetarian food growth. This design welcomes the public into what would usually be a private embassy space, and this is facilitated through security conscious design features.

My name is Jessica Aberdein and I currently work as an Assistant Landscape Architect at GL Hearn. After completing a degree in Geography, I wanted to utilise my skills in a creative setting. This led me to finding Landscape Architecture, which allows me to combine my artistic abilities with my interest in environmental, social, and cultural issues.
I have a particular fascination for urban projects and designing within cities, where I enjoy travelling and exploring.
