We often sacrifice real craftsmanship at the altar of expediency. While we are still capable of recognising the value of something that has been expertly constructed, we often choose the cheap and easy option instead.
The craft of an item is recognised instantly due to the designers attention detail and the consistency of their work. I focused on welcoming back craftsmanship into Digbeth, restoring unused materials and making them into valuable unique goods with individuality.A rare occurrence in this mass-produced era.

I believe in designing spaces that are enriched with a sense of belonging, whilst embracing the process of ageing as something that enlightens the materials depth.
Within the studio 1000 Trades, I have explored the craftsmanship of buildings whilst understanding the process of materials.  I have used various techniques to showcase this: lino print, screen print , hand drawing, water colouring, wood turning and model making using ‘found’ materials from site.
