Paradigm

2020

Paradigm is a complex of three building typologies which reflect the music industry, these typologies are retail, performance and studio space.
This project reflects the current affairs in the music industry today, with the death of physicals, the decline of grass root venues and the rise of capitalism. This rhetoric is the basis for the project however time changes
everything and with the introduction of the Covid 19 and social distancing leads to the demises of the scheme and the re-emergence of the culture in 2120 as a new generation of people create an underground scene.

This project takes abstractions from gig culture, festival culture and pub culture, and personifies into a cyclical theme. The idea of sustainability is one of the underlying components to the project as part of the RIBAs Climate act to reduce the amount of carbon emissions from a building as well as the embodied carbon within the material.
