The Tower of Tales

The Tower of Tales aims to collect memories of Digbeth, keeping the spirit of Digbeth’s craft and manufacturing heritage alive. The project focuses on the art of storytelling as a way to pass on memories and skills between the residents and the public. Derived from research into the layers of history of the site, the Tower of Tales investigates the district of Digbeth as a form of urban and collective memory, focusing on the community’s recollections.

I believe in designing spaces that help build and engage the community whilst considering the environmental impacts that architecture can have.
From the initial concept stage of designing through to the end of life stages of a building, I think sustainable design decisions should be made throughout. Through the studio 1000 trades, I have investigated how spaces can be designed to be both community-focused, improving social and well-being interaction, and how this can be further complimented by making sustainable material choices.
