Rituals

2020

Rituals is ‘A window into the experience of the ritualistic dining culture across the hidden cultures of Digbeth.’

This project, initiated from the Cooking Sections art installation of Sudanese extracts in collaboration with the Empire Remains Shop has prompted a proposition to create a place for the ritual of eating. With the rise of fast food, traditional cultural cuisines have become commercialised and have lost substance on the market, the project aims to celebrate cultural cuisines (some hidden right on Digbeth’s door step) through spaces to perform the rituals of consumption.

After completing my Part 1 I am interested in gaining experience in the world of architecture. My process is systematic of my thoughts and concepts, with the advent of producing really interesting made objects and drawings during my final year of BA Architecture. Interconnecting different disciplines of design has helped me gauge what architecture means to me and how to navigate it; during this year it was exploring craft and social issues.
The pieces I have produced have been akin to a product based idea and yet are interactive with an audience in their design with a communal ambience. I am able to work with very little instruction and capable of working  without constant supervision and I am considered to be a conscientious and intuitive individual when communicating my concepts and interests.
