City Farm

2020

The theme of my Project is mainly around cultural integration. The site is the former Birmingham City Hospital. The focus is Birmingham as the most ethnically diverse region in the UK. The project uses ethnic specific foods as the main planting varieties in an urban park farm. It encourages people to interact with each other through planting, harvesting and sharing of foods and produce, with the aim to promote mutual understanding of each other’s culture. The farm becomes a place where activities, culture, education and communication can take place.

My name is Zheng Xuechun. I have always been interested in landscape architecture and alongside with this I have a persistent interest in photography. I studied Environmental Design in my undergraduate degree, and Landscape Architecture in the UK for my master’s.
I am very happy to have had the experience of studying at BCU. My classmates and teachers enabled me to experience different learning approaches in different cultures. I am looking forward to more challenges and experiences.
